There’s no point in having the perfect email newsletter without having anyone to send it to. It’s like being all glammed up for a night of partying, but you have nowhere to go. So why not take your email newsletter to where the hottest parties are happening; Facebook! If you have a Facebook account, and a Facebook Page, simply get the GraphicMail subscription form code from your GraphicMail account.
1 – Ensure that your subscription form is customised appropriately and accurately
Once you’ve customized your subscription form and you are content with the outcome, go to the ‘Embed Form’ menu and copy the non-javascript code into TextEdit or NotePad.
2 - Add the FBML application to your Facebook account
Facebook’s unique code is called FBML (Facebook Markup Language). If you want to add widgets to your Facebook Fan Page you will need to have the Facebook FBML application. To add it, search for ‘Static FBML’ and then click on ‘Add to my page’.
3 – Create the Facebook Subscription Page
Once you have added the application, go to your Facebook Profile Page and click on ‘Edit Page’. Under your list of applications, find ‘FBML’ and click on the pencil icon. In the ‘Box Title’ name your tab, e.g. “Email updates” or “Email signup.” Thereafter, in the FBML section, copy and paste the HTML non-javascript code that you got from the Embed Form section of GraphicMail.
4 – Add the Subscription Tab to your Facebook Navigation
Under the ‘Add a New Tab’ dropdown in the FBML application you will see the custom name you gave for your subscription page (Step 2).
5 – Give it a try!
Go to your Facebook Fan Page and do a test subscription to confirm that all is in order.
